NSM community video project

Oh...whoops, I posted this on the main page...ah well, we got a new member out of it!  So what would be better?  Doing a video for a series or a single videogame?  I was thinking a single videogame would be better.  So my plan would be for us to decide a game, then after that, we'd list the songs that we have on the site for the game and people would pick which ones they would want to play.  Then they would make a piano video and send it to me, I'd edit them all together and put it on our NSM youtube account.  Everyone would get credited of course, and it would be fun!  So any suggestions for a game to start with?  I have some, but I'd like to hear what others say first.  Also, who would be involved?  If you'd like to be, just say it in your post.

Well I'm not much of an arranger, more of an editor if anything. I can however, play some of the trickier stuff on here. I don't understand how everybody's so good at arranging but can't play some of the stuff they write. For me I have to be able to play it entirely to be able to write it, so I'm not sure how much I can contribute on that side of the project.

I do actually have some experience in this sort of idea though. Every year the seniors of my old high school have what is essentially a popularity contest/talent show where all the guys do a group dance and then each person gets to do a max of 3 (though in our case 4) skits and at the end of the two nights the top ten are taken and given random awards like "the count of cool", "the earl of effort", "the king of hearts" and the grand prize "mr. Mardi Gras". Anyways one of my skits was me on the piano doing a medley of songs from different games with all the other guys coming out on stage in costume. I noticed that it's definitely important to have a variety of games because if you've never played a game or series before, you'll be completely lost, whereas if you recognize just one or two, those will make you super happy. I got a pretty good reception and I used: Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Zelda Ocarina of Time, Sonic 1, Tetris, Final Fantasy, Halo, Smash Bros Melee, Pokemon, Mortal Kombat and Super Mario Bros. I tried to cover my bases as best I could and it seemed to work.

So I guess all I had to say that was really useful is I'm of the mind that we should split it up from different games.
If not I'm all for Ocarina of Time.

Edit: It might be somewhat apparent that I'm very interested, but if other more dedicated users need the spot I'll give it to them.

Pleasepleaseplease do one of the Banjo games.  There are plenty of easy and moderately difficult songs there so everyone could most likely participate.

^^This is only for those songs that are just too hard *coughUGCcough* to actually play, or if anyone wants me to, I could get a more accurate version of the song (still talking about Mario Paint here) and just recreate it using the piano of MPC.

Anyone else agree to this? It will take about a day or two for an individual song w/ the score, and a medley, depending how long or short, should take about a week or 2.

I like the idea of doing a Banjo game but I guess any of the other Mario/Zelda games are good too. If we are only going to use sheets from this site we could have a few issues with regards to accuracy of the sheets. In which case, I'll volunteer to fix any sheets that need fixing from the game that we end up deciding on.

Also, I would ike to help, and a good game to start with could probably be Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World. These are just my ideas, and once again, if someone can record my CPU screen and audio,  I could get those songs/medleys done. All I need is about a week/2 time.

Yeah, I know that. I just meant that if, for some reason, no one can really play a medley from a specific game/series, then MPC would be a good last resort. An average MPC YouTube vid made by a good composer gets about 300 views: first day.

@UGC: just giving an example of a harder song that could be done on MPC. So, in a few weeks, expect a Super Mario Bros. 3 Medley from me. And if anyone could do me a big favor (I don't mean to go off topic with tHis) but, could someone make the sheet music for when Mario goes down a pipe/gets smaller (SMB), or atleast give me the chords, thanks.

If not, I think we should:
 - Have a project leader (Preferably a mod with a lot of spare time*)
 - Put up a separate thread where each member nominates ONE game.
 - The three or four games with the most nominations proceed to the polls.
 - We all know what to do with the winner.

*this is essentially the same as asking for a triangle with four sides.

I'd like to do multiple videos over time, of different games in different game series; but I believe the first one we do shouldn't be too demanding, but it's your call.  I guess I'll make a poll.

Gah well I'm back (briefly).
I really can't play piano very well AT ALL.

But I think we should start with Mario or Zelda, then move on to some others that got the next highest in the poll.
We'd be nothing without Mario *sniffle*
